BIKE 224 MEILEN is a winter cycling challenge held around Lake Neusiedl, a UNESCO World Heritage site. This is not a race, but a brevet-style ride focused on the personal experience of long-distance winter cycling. Participants can choose to ride one, two, or three laps of the course, with a total of 18 hours permitted for all three laps. The event is open to all types of off-road bicycles, including gravel bikes, mountain bikes, and e-bikes. Road bikes are not suitable due to the mixed on- and off-road surfaces.

The route follows the Burgenland Extrem Trail, starting and finishing in Oggau. The course is marked and travels through locations including Rust, Mörbisch, Fertörakos, Podersdorf, and Jois. A GPX file is also available. While there are checkpoints and aid stations, riders must adhere to "corridor times" designed to prevent racing—each lap must take a minimum of 4 hours and a maximum of 6 hours. There is a cut-off time of 12 hours for the first two laps.

This is a self-supported event with no technical support or shuttle service provided by the organizers. Riders are expected to arrive with well-maintained bicycles. Aid stations in Oggau, Podersdorf, and Jois will provide food and drinks, and charging facilities for electronic devices will be available in Oggau. All participants receive a starter pack that includes a roadbook, which must be carried as proof of following the route and schedule. More information can be found on the official event website.
