Bike 224 Meilen is a winter cycling challenge held around Lake Neusiedl on the day before the Burgenland Extrem Tour. Run in cooperation with Leo Hillinger / Mountainbiker am See, the event operates under brevet rules and is not a race. Riders choose whether to complete one, two, or three laps around the lake, adhering to specific time corridors designed to keep riders moving safely without racing. Any off-road-capable bicycle is permitted, including gravel bikes, cyclocross bikes, mountain bikes, touring bikes, and e-bikes, while pure road bikes are prohibited due to surface conditions.

The route follows the signposted Burgenland Extrem Trail, using a mix of paved cycle paths, gravel roads, and dirt tracks across both Austria and Hungary. Starting in front of the Gemeindeamt in Oggau, the path proceeds along the B10 cycle route through Rust and Mörbisch to Fertőrákos, shifts to the B13 towards Balf and Hegykő, and uses gravel and forest paths near Sarród. It continues through Fertőújlak, Apetlon, Illmitz, and Podersdorf, taking a brief detour to Weingut Hillinger in Jois before returning along the B10 to Oggau.

Riders must navigate by route book and meet strict pacing windows. Each lap must take between 4 and 6 hours. A cut-off is enforced after two laps: riders taking longer than 12 hours for the first two laps may not start the third. The overall time limit for three laps is 18 hours, ending at 02:00 on Friday morning. Mandatory checkpoints and a road book are used to track time and passage.

Aid stations providing water, warm tea, fruit, stritzl, and vegetable soup are located at the Oggau municipal office, Podersdorf (SUN BAY Restaurant), and Jois (Weingut Hillinger), with additional refreshments at Fertőújlak Mexico Puszta. Electrical outlets for recharging lights and e-bike batteries are available at the municipal office in Oggau. The event is strictly self-supported; no mechanical assistance or shuttle service is provided on course.

Participation requires registration through an association membership. Starter packets include bike numbers, a road book, an event wristband, a certificate, a reusable cup, and a musette bag, with medals awarded to participants completing at least one lap within the rules. Further details, rules, and registration are available on the official event website.
