North East Gravel is a self-supported bikepacking event starting and finishing at Tynset Torg in Tynset, Norway. The event runs without a stopwatch or strict cutoff times, allowing riders to determine their own pace, sleeping spots, and resupply stops across a multi-day journey through the mountain region of northern Østerdalen.

The route follows a single large loop over varied surfaces, including dirt roads, paths, carriage roads, and paved sections. Two route lengths are offered: a 416 km route and a 263 km option. Both routes venture north toward Tolga, Vingelen, and Røros before heading east across Grådalen toward Tufsingdal, Narbuvoll, and an intermediate checkpoint at Øversjødalen. From there, the 500 km loop extends through Rendal, Bergset, Hanestad, and Alvdal before finishing by the Sparken monument in Tynset, while the 270 km course turns back toward Tynset via Unset and Aumdalen.

Participants navigate via loaded GPS tracks. The event operates entirely on self-sufficiency principles: escort vehicles and external support from organizers are prohibited, though riders are permitted to ride together and share equipment. Bike choice is unrestricted; gravel bikes, mountain bikes, and electric bikes are permitted, provided riders arrange their own charging. Registered cyclists receive access to analog maps, detailed logistics notes covering grocery stores, sports shops, and accommodation options along the route, as well as specific passage permits arranged for local nature reserves and private roads. To record completion, riders sign a protocol book at the finish line. Max 200 participants at the start line
