Gravel del Cobre – Machalí, Chile

  • Date: October 10, 2026
  • Location: Machalí, Chile
  • Distances: 90 km, 60 km
  • Event Type: Gravel ride

The Gravel del Cobre is a gravel cycling event in the Andean precordillera of Machalí, Chile. The event offers two route distances suitable for a range of riders, from first-timers to those seeking a new personal record.

The longer route is 90 kilometers with 1,500 meters of cumulative elevation gain, while the shorter "iniciación" route is 60 kilometers with approximately 650 meters of ascent. Both routes are open to gravel and mountain bikes, but electric bikes are not permitted. Part of the course follows the historic route of the former Rancagua-Coya railway, which was built between 1905 and 1911 to serve the El Teniente mine.

Awards will be given to the top three finishers in both men's and women's categories for both gravel and MTB divisions. All finishers will receive a commemorative medal. The 90 km route will have five aid stations, including at the start/finish, while the 60 km route will have three. Aid stations will provide water, fruit, and energy snacks.

Organizers state that the route will be marked, but all participants are required to carry a GPS computer with the official route loaded. Other mandatory equipment includes a helmet, repair kit, and a charged mobile phone. Riders should also be aware that the event uses open rural roads and must adhere to traffic laws. More details, including the official route files and regulations, can be found on the official event website.
