Belgian Waffle Ride Arizona returns for its fifth annual edition in the Sonoran Desert, staging from McDowell Mountain Park in Fountain Hills. Styled as the "Hell of the North Desert," the early-season event features mixed-surface riding across open gravel roads, sandy washes, twisting singletrack trails, and connecting pavement sectors.

Riders choose between three distances. Using the prior edition's course reference, the full Waffle spans 101 miles with 6,770 feet of elevation gain, the mid-distance Wafer covers 67 miles with 3,715 feet of climbing, and the shorter Wanna route runs 42 miles with 2,172 feet of ascent. Final courses for 2027 are finalized ahead of the race.

The race weekend includes rider check-in, the BWR Unroad Expo featuring cycling brand partners, and post-ride celebrations with waffles, coffee, and beer. Participant entry includes RFID chip timing, marked courses with traffic control, stocked feed zones featuring Neversecond hydration and nutrition, a musette bag with event items, and finisher beer. Podium recognition is awarded to top overall and age-group finishers across the Waffle and Wafer distances.
