Shores & Switchbacks is a new unsupported gravel ultra starting and finishing in Lindau on Lake Constance, Germany. The first edition takes place from 3 to 6 June 2027. The planned route covers 400–600 km with 7,000–10,000 metres of climbing through Lake Constance, the Bregenzerwald and the Nagelfluh range. The final route is still being developed.

Base Camp at Ruderclub Lindau sits right by the water. Thursday includes the riders’ briefing and a shared carb-loading meal, with an optional social ride also planned. Riders set off on Friday morning. The cut-off is Sunday noon, followed by a shared closing meal. Family and friends are welcome at Base Camp.

Riders independently manage navigation, food, repairs and overnight accommodation. Entry is available solo or as an officially registered duo. Live tracking and a public leaderboard are part of the concept.

At least 50% of places are intended to be reserved for FLINTA* riders: women, lesbians, intersex, non-binary, trans and agender people. Unfilled reserved places may subsequently be released through a transparent process.

Registration is expected to open on 13 December 2026. The provisional entry fee is €220 per person or €430 per duo.

Full details, updates, and rules are published on the official event website.
