Munich Milan Gravel is an unsupported bikepacking challenge spanning roughly 800 kilometres and 14,000 metres of climbing across the Alps from Munich, Germany to Milan, Italy. The route covers a mix of gravel roads, tarmac, and trails, traversing Bavarian terrain, alpine passes through Austria and Switzerland, and descents toward northern Italian lakes. Participants have a time limit of 7.5 days to complete the course.

The event is not run as a race, but riders agree to self-supported bikepacking principles. Drafting is prohibited except for registered pairs, and outside assistance is forbidden. Participants must carry their own gear, book their own commercial lodging, and purchase supplies independently. Mandatory equipment includes a helmet, front and rear lights, spare lights, and an emergency blanket. Riders must carry a GPS tracking unit for safety and dotwatching, as well as hold valid third-party liability, accident, and international health insurance covering alpine rescue.

Navigation follows a fixed route, with riders required to rejoin at the exact point of departure if they leave the track. The route features five mandatory checkpoints verified by a stamp card. Resupply varies by sector, ranging from frequent valley shops and service stations in Germany and Austria to remote alpine segments in Switzerland where water and food stops are sparse, followed by Italian lakeside towns and villages.

Accreditation and a mandatory briefing take place the evening before the start, where riders collect their cap, tracking unit, and start bag.
