Backyard Gravel Carinthia – Rosental, Austria

• Date: September 18–20, 2026
• Location: Rosental, Carinthia, Austria
• Distances: 200–325 km
• Event Type: Self-supported bikepacking weekender

Backyard Gravel Carinthia is a self-supported gravel weekender held in the Carinthia region of Austria. Described by the organizers as a community ride and adventure rather than a race, the event offers a full route of 325 kilometers with 7,500 meters of elevation gain, along with shorter options down to 200 km and 3,500 meters of ascent.

The route is a varied mix of forest roads, steep climbs, bike paths, trails, back roads, and old railway lines, crossing the borders between Austria, Slovenia, and Italy. One section includes a notable hike-a-bike climb. The course is designed with multiple shortcuts, allowing riders to customize their distance and pace, ensuring everyone can regroup along the way.

The event is based out of a central “cake camp” located in a forest between Velden and Villach, which serves as the main hub. The camp is open from Thursday, September 17 to Monday, September 21, 2026, offering space for tents and vans, as well as beds in shared rooms. The organizers provide fresh food and cake at the camp.

Participants navigate the route self-supported. The first night can be spent at the Rifugio Cason di Lanza in Italy, with beds reserved by the organizer. On the second night, riders have the option to return to the cake camp before riding the final loop to Lake Wörthersee on Sunday. Registration and further details can be found on the official event website.
