Transpyrenees – San Sebastián, Spain

  • Date: June 27, 2027
  • Location: San Sebastián, Spain
  • Distances: 1,124 km
  • Event Type: Unsupported ultracycling

Transpyrenees is an unsupported ultracycling event crossing the Pyrenees from the Atlantic coast to the Mediterranean Sea. The 2027 edition starts in San Sebastián on June 27.

The fixed route covers 1,124 kilometers with 27,500 meters of elevation gain, crossing the border between Spain and France ten times. The course is primarily on asphalt but includes approximately seven kilometers of gravel sections in good condition, spread over two segments. Organizers recommend a road bike with 28mm or slightly wider tires. The route features 34 mountain passes, including well-known climbs like the Aubisque, Tourmalet, and Gavarnie, plus the Col de Tramanssel as a special feature for this edition.

This is a single-stage, unsupported event, meaning the clock runs continuously from start to finish. Participants must be self-sufficient, and any services required during the ride, such as accommodation, must be arranged by the rider after the event has started. While family and friends can attend the start and finish, they are not permitted on the route without prior authorization.

Registration includes a tracker for online monitoring, a small bag transfer, a finisher medal, and various insurance policies including civil liability, rescue, and repatriation. According to the organizers, some may treat it as a race, while others will aim simply to finish within the time limit, which ends at 8:00 PM on July 3, 2027. More details can be found on the official event website.
