The Solstice Gravel Grinder, returning for its tenth and final year in Beatrice, Nebraska, invites riders to experience the quiet beauty of the region. This atmospheric event begins and concludes in Beatrice, venturing through the compelling backroads north and east of the city. The landscape itself is a tapestry of steep hills, gentle rollers, and the sometimes rugged charm of minimum maintenance roads, offering a true test of grit and spirit against the Nebraskan horizon.

Three distances are offered: the Kindler, spanning over 38 miles; the Solar Fiddy, covering more than 66 miles; and the original Solstice 100, known as The Hundy, at over 100 miles. The Kindler route thoughtfully incorporates sections of the Chief Standing Bear Trail, mingling a different kind of terrain into the gravel experience. While the solitude of the open road is a cornerstone of this self-supported ride, checkpoints are spaced approximately every 15 to 25 miles, providing essential water and minimal assistance, along with a tire pump. Riders are encouraged to be self-reliant, carrying their own sustenance, though local convenience stores and bars offer opportunities for personal resupply.

This gathering is designed to be self-sufficient, meaning each participant is entrusted with their own safety and well-being. The routes will be made available the week before the event, downloadable for cue cards and GPS devices, ensuring riders have all they need to navigate the course. An all-gravel backup route is part of the planning, a thoughtful consideration in case of wet weather transforming the primary paths.
