The Galway Gravel Grinder takes riders into the quiet landscapes of the West of Ireland, originating from the village of Moycullen. This event, born from a local passion for the region's off-road tracks, offers a unique rhythm of Irish gravel, boreen, and forest roads.

Riders begin with a gentle roll through Moycullen, which soon transitions into classic-style Irish boreen and gravel sectors. After an initial stretch of such terrain, the routes lead into the Galway Wind Park. Here, the ride unfolds across a network of gravel roads, interspersed with climbs and the expansive views of Connemara.

Three distinct routes are on offer. The Craic, at 65 kilometers with around 800 meters of climbing, provides an introduction to gravel riding. The Crush covers 100 kilometers with approximately 1,500 meters of elevation, navigating similar gravel and boreen roads. For those seeking a deeper challenge, The Epic stretches to 125 kilometers, encompassing around 1,800 meters of climbing.

The weekend unfolds with sign-on opportunities the evening before and the morning of the ride. All routes begin at 10:00 am after a pre-ride briefing. The start and finish are both centered in Moycullen, fostering a sense of community around this west Irish gravel experience. Accommodation options are available throughout the area, including Galway City, with camping and camper van access also provided.
