The Desert Bike Race is a four-stage gravel race across the Tunisian Sahara, starting in Bir Soltane and finishing in Zmela. The route covers approximately 425 kilometers with 4,500 meters of elevation gain. Riders can choose between a competitive format with official timing and a non-competitive option to ride the same route at their own pace.

Each stage of the event is designed to showcase different landscapes of southern Tunisia. The route features a mix of sandy tracks, rocky sections, dry river crossings, plateaus, mountain roads, and canyons. Along the way, riders will pass historic fortified settlements known as ksour, the Berber village of Chenini, and various oases.

Pre-registration for the 2027 edition is open from October 11 to November 8, 2026. General registration opens on November 9, 2026, with several pricing tiers. Full details on registration, pricing phases, and optional extras like accommodation are available on the official event website.
