    Date: July 19–24, 2026

    Distance: 830 km

Event Type: Unsupported Gravel Ultracycling / Bikepacking Challenge

    Event Description

Lost Horizons is an 830 km unsupported ultracycling adventure through the remote landscapes often called Spanish Lapland. Starting and finishing in the historic city of Soria, the route dives into one of the most sparsely populated areas in Western Europe—a region defined by vast plateaus, deep valleys, dense pine forests, and quiet villages where time moves slowly.

The course links fine gravel tracks, farm lanes, forest roads, and small stretches of tarmac into a single continuous loop. Over 13,000 meters of climbing, riders traverse national parks, raw mountain ridges, river canyons, and medieval settlements that still carry the marks of their past. This is a landscape of open horizons, big skies, and long, uninterrupted riding.

Lost Horizons is strictly unsupported. Riders must navigate by GPS, manage their own resupplies, plan sleep and shelter, and take full responsibility for repairs and strategy. The event sets a time limit of 6 days to complete the full 830 km route, leaving plenty of room for different approaches—minimal-stop race mode or steady, long-day touring with short nights of rest.

While the terrain is demanding, the focus of Lost Horizons is not just on difficulty, but on immersion: long gravel corridors through lonely forests, sunrise and sunset on quiet mesetas, and the quiet satisfaction of crossing a region that few people ever see in this way.
