Piemontgravel is a non-competitive, “unsupported” bikepacking event for gravel and mountain bikes, set amid the stunning landscapes of Piedmont. Now in its fifth edition, Piemontgravel evolved from a 30-year territorial exploration project and has become both the most popular gravel cycling event in Piedmont and one of the top events in Italy.
The goal is to showcase the region in all its diversity, particularly the provinces of Cuneo, Turin, and Asti, as well as the UNESCO World Heritage landscapes, cultural treasures, and culinary traditions of Langhe, Roero, and Monferrato.
Piemontgravel’s routes traverse areas of significant natural, cultural, and sporting interest. In addition to Langhe and Roero, they cover the plains of Cuneo, the moraine lakes of Avigliana, and the scenic hills surrounding Turin.
Given the varied terrain, a gravel bike is recommended, though a front-suspension mountain bike is also suitable due to the high proportion of unpaved roads and single-track paths. Updated annually, the courses provide an exciting blend of technical sections and spectacular scenery, guiding riders along gravel roads, trails, and short stretches of secondary paved roads, all against the backdrop of the Alps.
Participants can choose from four routes:
- 111 sbagliato: 82 km, +1,700 m
- il 222: 222 km, +2,800 m
- il 333: 333 km, +4,000 m
- il 444: 444 km, +5,600 m
They can opt for a solo start or join a group start, making Piemontgravel an event that accommodates riders of varying goals and preferences.
