Istra Land

Istra Land is an unforgettable gravel cycling adventure that starts and ends in Basovizza, Italy, and takes riders on a breathtaking journey through the stunning landscapes of Istria. This self-supported event blends the spirit of endurance racing with the freedom of bikepacking, inviting cyclists to challenge themselves across 400 kilometers of rugged terrain, rolling hills, and coastal trails.

From the very start, participants will set off on a route that crosses borders and cultures, passing through the Slovenian countryside before reaching the heart of the Istrian Peninsula. The journey unfolds across a diverse mix of gravel roads, forest trails, and ancient paths, winding through medieval villages, vineyards, and olive groves. The terrain is demanding yet rewarding, with 5,000 meters of total elevation gain, offering both thrilling climbs and fast-paced descents.

Istra Land is more than just a race. Riders can choose to push their limits, competing for the fastest time, or embrace the adventure at a more relaxed pace, taking in the breathtaking views and rich cultural heritage along the way. The route is designed to be fully rideable, with 70% of the terrain being off-road, ensuring an immersive gravel experience from start to finish.

Unlike traditional races, Istra Land follows a self-supported format, meaning participants must carry their own gear, food, and tools, with no external assistance allowed. Along the way, riders will have the opportunity to stop in small towns and local cafés for resupply, experiencing the warm hospitality and culinary delights of the region. Whether camping under the stars or finding accommodations in charming villages, the journey is as much about the experience as it is about the ride.

Istra Land is not just a test of endurance but a celebration of exploration, camaraderie, and the raw beauty of nature. Every rider, whether racing for the podium or simply aiming to complete the course, will find themselves immersed in one of Europe’s most spectacular cycling regions.
