The Borderline Gravel Challenge is part of the legendary Andean Raid series: a fixed-route, self-supported gravel event that spans 300 km across remote Peruvian landscapes, from Nazca to the coastal dunes of Paracas.
This route is a pure gravel adventure—80%+ unpaved terrain that includes sand, dust, desert plateau, and loamy roads under open skies. Riders face shifting surfaces and unpredictable crosswinds as they transition from arid desert into ocean air.
With roughly 7,000 m of climbing, the course rewards physical endurance and mental fortitude. It’s a navigation challenge too—entirely self-led with no external support, but draft riding and group pacing are allowed.
Borderline was created for riders seeking an alternative to multi-day ultra challenges. At 300 km and packed with contrast—high desert heat, coastal plains, gravel ridgelines—it’s a standalone test of grit and discipline.
Hosted within the Andean Raid framework, Borderline is ideal for experienced gravel athletes who want intense terrain without committing to the ultra versions of the Andean Raid (300 km and 660 km). It’s a bold intro to the high-altitude, low-support spirit of the series.
