Event Type: Unsupported Ultra-Distance Bikepacking Race
Event Description
Andean Raid is one of the most demanding ultra-distance bikepacking challenges in the world, set deep in the dramatic landscapes of the Peruvian Andes. Starting in the historic city of Cusco, this fixed-route, unsupported race sends riders across high-altitude plateaus, steep mountain passes, and remote valleys where self-reliance is essential and every decision matters.
The route is designed as a single-stage challenge. Once the clock starts, it never stops. Riders must navigate using GPS, manage food and rest, and handle mechanicals entirely on their own. The terrain is relentless: long climbs, technical descents, rough gravel tracks, and remote roads that cut through some of the highest and most isolated cycling terrain on the planet.
Multiple distance options allow riders to choose their level of commitment, but all formats demand serious preparation. High elevation, rapidly changing weather, freezing nights, and intense daytime heat add layers of complexity to an already formidable route. This is a race for experienced bikepackers who understand how to manage themselves physically and mentally in extreme environments.
Beyond the challenge, Andean Raid is a journey through landscapes shaped by ancient cultures and natural forces. Riders pass through remote Andean communities, lush valleys, and stark highlands that offer both hardship and unforgettable beauty. There are no prizes, no external support, and no shortcuts — finishing the route is the achievement.
Andean Raid — an uncompromising test of endurance, altitude, and self-reliance in the heart of the Andes.
